At the upcoming 27th World Forum of Mediation Centres, to be held in Milan, Italy from January 17 to January 18, 2020, Georges Hanot will chair the session called

“PRACTICES AND BENEFITS OF SELF-REGULATORY DISPUTE RESOLUTION BODIES WITHIN, AND ACROSS INDUSTRIES”

Joined by co-speakers from Italy, Australia, India, and Greece, he will highlight how diverging interests between different actors, sectors of activities or industries of a same value chain, can give rise to competitive tensions and may threaten its sustainability, eventually also impacting the end consumer.
Whereas legislators across the globe have to some extent provided regulations to address possible disputes, initiatives have arisen where organisations constituting such a chain have set up multi-stakeholder concertation bodies in order to better handle these tensions, improve collaboration and foster good partnership relations.

The session will look at examples from the food supply chain and energy sector, as well as from the realms of sports and arts. It will address the role of mediators, focus on how systems can be effectively designed and implemented, and highlight how technology can play a significant role as an enabler.
